Best router? Linksys vs Netgear vs D-Link?

Used to hear Linksys were the best, but then heard of some security
issues. I think they released and update/fix, and haven't heard anything
since so I assume that means it worked.
But, I've also heard Netgear is better.
Nothing here nor there on D-Link except I know the name.

All things being equal, I'd go Linksys, but that's just cosmetic.
I despise the silver/chrome of some Netgears, and them for even making ANY
that way! I'd like to kill whoever made silver "the new black". I hate
it!

Ahem, so anyway, anybody feel free to toss in your 2c :)

BTW, I'm thinking of connecting a gigabit switch to it, not sure on brand
or even necessity of that. So, if that enters into it..

Yes I would also go with Linksys. From my experience they seem to be a
lot more stable. Linksys also has gigabit routers. Connecting gigabit
swtiches to non-gigabit routers is useless if you're using more than 1
internal network. In other words, you will need to have all your
computers connected to the switch if you want to use the full potential
of gigabit technology :)

Of those three, I think I'd go with Netgear. I've had trouble with
Linksys, and (perhaps incorrectly?) never considered D-Link first tier.

I have used D-Link for Homes and Bussinesses of various sizes. But everyone
has a favorite and all complain about tech support, so it really is up to
what you are looking for in your equipment.
